While the series is a mostly grounded slice of life comedy, the series takes a turn for the surreal whenever he appears. He appears in Osaka and Sakaki's dreams, claiming that he's their friend Chiyo's father, a claim that is never decisively proven or disproven. He is generally polite, but can suddenly become terrifyingly angry whenever he feels insulted. He is voiced by famed veteran voice actor Wakamoto_Norio. When he was brought in to record his lines, his delivery was more drawn out than the animation. Instead of directing him to redo his lines to match the visuals, the animators opted to reanimate the animation to match his delivery.
