Now Viewing: final_destination_(smash_bros)Tag type: General A recurring arena from the platform fighting game series Super_Smash_Bros. The arena, as its name suggests, has historically been the stage for the final boss fight in the game's story modes. It is a floating platform flying in space and as the fight wears on, the background is constantly changing as the platform flies through various locations. It debuted in the original Super Smash Bros, but it didn't become one of the most famous stages from the franchise until Super Smash Bros. Melee which made the stage playable in versus matches. Smash tourney players, who prefer to participate in matches with no items and on arenas with minimal to no environmental hazards to ensure that matches are determined by player skill, found this stage ideal for their play style. This stage, along with Battlefield from the same franchise, became the symbol of Smash Bros. tournament play with matches being played on either Final Destination and Battlefield themselves or on stages with similar templates. The developers behind the franchise noted the stage's popularity amongst tournament players, and starting with Super Smash Bros. Wii U, created Omega stages for the game's For Glory mode, which takes every stage and removes all of the environmental hazards, making them more like Final Destination.
