Now Viewing: the_legend_of_zelda_(cd-i)Tag type: Copyright A trilogy of The_Legend_of_Zelda action adventure games developed by Philips Interactive Media instead of series creators Nintendo for the Cd-i. As they were not developed by Nintendo nor were they released on a Nintendo console, they are not part of the official series canon. The games consist of Link:_the_Faces_of_Evil, zelda:_The_wand_of_Gamelon and Zelda's_Adventure. They were released in a time when the main franchise lay dormant after Link's Awakening and before Ocarina of Time. The first game was released on October 10, 1993 and Zelda's adventure was released on May 10, 1996. The trilogy, unlike the main series which is one of the most consistently critically acclaimed game franchises, and the console they were released on were major flops and would have faded into obscurity if it weren't for their cutscenes. The first two games utilizes 2d animated cutscenes which became infamous due to many players finding them to both look bizarre and to be unintentionally funny. This accidental goofiness has led to them spawning some of the most popular memes in the Zelda franchise and for inspiring numerous comedic edits, primarily Youtube Poops. Zelda's Adventure uses live action cutscenes instead but hasn't reached the memetic infamy of its predecessors.
