Now Viewing: professor_oakTag type: Character Samuel Oak, known as Ohkido Yukinari (オーキド・ユキナリ) in Japan, is a character introduced in Pokémon Red and Green. He's the very first character you meet in any Pokémon game, speaking to the player in a cutscene upon starting a new game. Oak is eccentric, as he not only studies Pokémon, but has invented several unique gadgets, used especially within the spinoff games. In the anime, Professor Oak has a habit of accidentally irritating Pokémon despite his knowledge (usually Pokémon he's currently explaining/demonstrating) and suffering the consequences, often in a slapstick way. * post #2654623 * post #2538629 "This pioneering Pokémon Professor was an accomplished Trainer in his heyday and has since become an authority on Pokémon research.
