Now Viewing: armbarTag type: General A "joint lock" submission hold which targets a specific joint in order to cause muscle damage or bone breakage. The armbar targets the elbow. To start this submission, one can be on the ground or standing (though it is significantly harder to perform the latter) and the user's legs must be perpendicular to the target's midsection, facing the opposite direction relative to the targeted arm. The submission begins by clamping one's thighs around the arm and holding it as to prevent the target from moving it. Then, lift one's hips while keeping their arm down. To further strengthen it, bring their arm underneath the arm pit and drop the shoulders to provide further torque.
