It started on Chapter 480, and ended on Chapter 686, volumes 55- volumes 74, running from June 4, 2012 to November 6, 2016. It is the darkest arc from the manga, with a drastic increase in bloodshed from previous arcs. As this is the last arc, be wary of spoilers. Shortly after Kurosaki Ichigo regains his powers from the previous arc, he, and Soul Society and Hueco Mundo, are faced with their greatest threat yet in the form of the Wandenriech, an army of Quincys, led by Yhwach. Yhwach launches an invasion, 1000 years in the making, on Soul Society. The devastation the invasion inflicts forces Kurosaki and the surviving Soul Society members to make alliances and resort to tactics they never imagined they would have to use to win. Kubo_Tite's physical and mental health notably deteriorated during the publication of the arc, and for the sake of his health, he ended up wrapping the arc and the manga as a whole sooner than he had originally planned. After he recovered, he revisited his most famous franchise in various ways and acted as a supervisor for the anime adaptation of the arc. The anime adaptation came a full ten years after the first anime ended. It was split into four seasons released over four years, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2026 as opposed to the first anime's continuous run. It was animated by Studio_Pierrot and helmed by Taguchi Tomohisa who was the chief director and wrote the anime alongside Hiramatsu Masaki. Murata Hikaru acted as another director. It was again scored by Sagisu Shiro. The characters were designed by Kudo Masashi who stuck closer to Kubo's original designs this time, such as reverting Rangiku's hair color back to blonde. The anime is more faithful to the manga than the previous anime, but has some additions and changes to the original arc in order to better realize Kubo's vision for it.
