The game is essentially a boss fight game. Stages where you fight minor enemies are very brief; they can be seen as something of a breather between the numerous boss battles. One of the most iconic bosses from Gunstar Heroes, Seven Force, reappears in this game. The player character, a bird man named Epsilon Eagle, has the ability to carry four weapons at a time; the player can choose at the start of the game which one s/he wants. Epsilon also has the ability to dash, hang onto ceilings upside down and levitate. The player must make good use of all of these abilities to survive.
