Now Viewing: raveTag type: Copyright レイヴ Tag refers to the fantasy action adventure manga, anime, and game series, also called "Groove Adventure Rave" and known as in English releases. It is also known as Rave Master. Not to be confused with the dancing style. The title is meant to be written in all caps. The manga debuted in 1999 and ran until 2005. It was written and illustrated by Mashima_Hiro and was his debut as a mangaka. It proved to be popular and his breakthrough series. It was adapted into an anime in 2001, but the anime only covers the early parts of the series. On the year 0015 of the series' universe, the world was corrupted by dark stones known as Dark Bring which give people powerful magic. Leagroove Kingdom, possessing the Dark Bring, waged a war with the Symphonia Kingdom, using the Rave Stones. Shiba Roses is the first Rave Master and he takes up the special Ten Commandments sword in order to destroy the mother of all Shadow Stones. Sinclaire. But Shiba's quest backfires horribly and one tenth of the world is destroyed. Shiba only survives thanks to the strange guardian creature Plue. Plue and the Rave stones are separated from Shiba. Plue is discovered fifty years later by a teen boy named Haru Glory who lives on the relatively secluded island, Garage Island. Haru lives with his sister Cattleya and he has no knowledge of what became of his father Gale Glory other than he left to find Rave. Haru and Cattleya's idyllic life is destroyed once their home is attacked by the Demon Card organization. The Raregroove kingdom is also searching for the Rave Stones for its own nefarious purposes. Shiba, who has arrived at Garage Island, looking for Plue tells Haru that he is the second Rave Master and entrusts him with the Ten Commandments. Haru takes up Shiba's mantle and embarks on a quest to find the Rave Stones before various factions get their hands on them. Along the way, he meets an amnesiac teen girl named Elie and Haru assists her in recovering her memories. Mashima has made numerous references to this series in Fairy Tail and even created a one shot crossover with the two series. The one shot crossover was animated on August 16 2013, making it the first time the Rave characters appeared in animated form since the conclusion of the anime series in 2002. The original seiyuus reprise their roles and some characters like Julia are animated and voiced for the first time. The Rave characters in the one shot also look closer to Mashima's current art style. However, Rave and Fairy Tail do not appear to be in the same continuity. The character Plue has been transplanted to Fairy Tail and the character Jellal Fernandes is based off of Sieg Rain from this series. The references even extend to voice actors. Seki Tomokazu and Kawasumi Ayako who played the leads Haru and Elie respectively in the anime would reunite to play two supporting characters in a close relationship in Fairy Tail.
