Horror beat-em-up franchise created by Namco. The original game debuted in arcades in 1988, but it was eventually ported to the TurboGrafx-16, and every other entry in the series was released on consoles.

The series is inspired by horror movies with its hero Rick bearing a strong resemblance to Friday the 13th's Jason and many other references. The games pit Rick against hordes of grotesque monsters as his attempts to save his loved ones. The games are quite violent and full of grotesque imagery.
