Now Viewing: arnold_schwarzeneggerTag type: Character A brown haired muscular Austrian actor/bodybuilder/politician born on July 30, 1947 in Thal, Styria. He began his professional career as a bodybuilder, developing an interest in it as a teenager. He was inspired by bodybuilders like Reg Park and Steve Reeves. Prior to the his film career, this was what Schwarzenegger was most famous for and his work led to him winning first place in Mr. Universe in 1970. From an early age, he had a fascination with the United States and desired to build his career there as opposed to his home country. He saw his Mr. Universe victory as his ticket to America. He made his film debut in 1969 with Hercules in New York, and acted in various supporting roles throughout the 1970s. He did not have a major success until 1982's Conan the Barbarian. His portrayal of the character has also led to the Conan series being closely linked with Arnold in many peoples' minds. His next major success, The Terminator, spawned Schwarzenegger's most famous catch phrase, "I'll be back." After the success of those two films, he became one of the most iconic Western action stars of the 1980s alongside Sylvester Stallone with whom he has a tongue in cheek rivalry with both actors' films occasionally inserting jokes about the other. Despite this, they never appeared onscreen together until The Expendables film series. His action films often emphasize his muscular physique by having his character perform superhuman feats of strength and handle massive weapons and in his 1980s films he often appeared shirtless. He is also famous for his thick Austrian accent which he actually maintains by visiting a voice coach as it is such an iconic element of his persona. His characters often make a morbidly humorous comment/pun, usually with a straight face, after killing an enemy in a gruesome or creative fashion. The Contra hero Bill Rizer is based off of him. Lunar's father in Seto no Hanayome is a walking Terminator parody and is modeled after his appearance as the T-800.
