Now Viewing: makimura_kaoriTag type: Character 槇村 香 The short-haired female lead of City_Hunter. The French dub changes her name to Laura Marconi. She becomes Saeba_Ryou's partner in the City Hunter business after her brother, Makimura_Hideyuki is murdered. Although she assists him in dealing with clients, she generally does not see as much action as Ryou does, and Ryou usually does the majority of the work on missions. This is because of her inexperience and Ryou's desire to protect her from harm. However, he does enlist her help when he needs it. Although she is enthusiastic about helping out, she is notoriously a poor shot and tends to fire rapidly and wildly. Her poor shooting still ends up being useful for the heroes as it is usually enough to either scare off or distract their enemies. However her poor accuracy is also because Ryou tinkered with her gun so that it would miss her targets so that she'd never have to kill anyone. Her short hair and her penchant for wearing masculine clothes often leads her to be frequently mistaken for male. Despite the gender confusion, she is still considered to be attractive by most people in-universe though this also has its downsides for her as, in her normal clothes, she often attracts other women who mistake her for a handsome young man. As she has no interest in women and prefers to be seen as a woman, these situations usually end with Kaori exasperatedly yelling, "I'm a woman!" She does not like to be thought of as a man and gets angry whenever people deride her for lacking feminine qualities. Conversely, she is very happy whenever a man shows interest in her or praises her as an attractive woman. Ryou is a major womanizer but he is less lecherous towards her. Kaori dislikes Ryou's womanizing and often pulls a hammer out of nowhere to smack him whenever he gets carried away with his lust. Kaori also investigates clients, to see if the client is worthy for Ryou and her to help out and on a personal level, to make sure whether the client is an attractive woman so that she can prepare to keep Ryou's hands off of the female client. Kaori also likes cases where the client offers to pay a lot of money since she often complains that the City Hunter sweeper business isn't making enough money. Kaori is especially frustrated with Ryou favoring clients who are attractive women. Although she clashes with him often, she has feelings for Ryou and is quite happy when she feels like her relationship with him is deepening or when people interpret their relationship as being like a couple. She hopes that he can see her as a woman. In the Angel_Heart continuity, she becomes a couple with Ryou in the series backstory. Unfortunately, Kaori is also killed prior to the story's beginning and her heart is transplanted into the series' protagonist Li_Xiang-ying. Although Kaori is dead, she still plays a significant role in the story as she is able to communicate with Xiang-ying and Xiang-ying has inherited some of Kaori's personality traits like Kaori's tendency to hit Ryou whenever he gets carried away with his womanizing. She is voiced by Ikura_Kazue. In live action, she is played by Joey Wong in the 1993 HK film, Jessica Hester Hsuan in the 1997 film, and Elodie Fontan (2019 French film).
