He is one of the Seto gang members and is one of the friendlier and more reasonable members. He resuscitated Nagasumi with CPR and gave Nagasumi his first kiss starting a running joke in the series where Nagasumi will often dreamily sigh "Masa-san" once he sees Masa or Masa delivers some words of wisdom while looking suave. Nagasumi's man crush on Masa is strong enough that he is sometimes seen as the strongest competitor to Sun for Nagasumi's affections. Nagasumi's mother also develops an attraction to him once she meets him. He is actually Shiranui Akeno's long lost brother and originally looked like a male version of Akeno. He is voiced by Ikeda Shuuichi in this form. However, he has no memory of his past life and he was manipulated into joining the Seto Group. He is also the only male character in the series to get an official dakimakura.
