Counterproductive advertising. Having it constantly in a corner, out of the way, or even as the background instead of the white, may have worked for me. But having a big splash screen for it makes me not want to support him because that will tell him that sort of thing is what people want. Counterproductive advertising helps nobody.

It's also very embarrassing to see someone basically begging for money. Patreon ones in particular seem to be bigger and more noticeable than dA or something else. Probably because there's real money at stake.
