Jinx was not simple. Venusaur was not that simple. Blastoise was not that simple. This is proof that they could have done more to the Pokemon if they wanted to.
I think it's bad that they're going with the less simple approach more often, though. Pokemon are beginning to look like Digimon; actually, I thought a good chunk of them, when they were first introduced, were the new Digimon.
It doesn't matter about about what ten year olds think. They tire easily. True fans who have been with this game for years are the ones who buy it. Even the creator of Pokemon has said that. Sales say that.
Stick with the simple design, dammit!

Don't come with the "true fans" thing. "True fans" of a series will buy it and choose the Pokemons they like, not whine about how "its not the same as before, now it sucks".
While I agree that simple desing is good, sometimes it doesnt.
The Pokemon franchise is evolving; if they stay the same like it was before, only the "true fans" will buy it, but the rest of the world won't, thats why the go to the more complex design.
Sales SAY, that more people are buying the games, even when the designs get more complex. Why is that?
Quit your whining; if you dont like it, then get out and let the ones that like it enjoy it. And dont come with the "its a free world, I can say what I want" thing; Your freedom ends when mine begins.

to #553338: Garchomp looks way better in this rendition. i have no idea what your talking about. Charizard looks like a bunch of kids swarmed around the artist and said "OH it should have this, and this oh and this.". it was awesome the way it was, adding all this extra stuff makes it look deformed.

@Anon 10: Did you salamence? its design is simple although it is generation 3 Pokemon. Most generation 3 retain the simplicity the original pokemon have. It is the execessive detail and unecessary parts keep added to new pokemon that make them lost it pokemon feel. The Artist can do that if he want, but the company instead force him to design pokemon that attract ten years old instead. For me, I prefer middle way. Quite detail but not too execive like adding unnecessary detail
