Actually with the new heat reducing polymer casings and carbon fiber re-enforced ceramics we're now making, a replica would weigh no more than about 50-70lbs give or take.

Taking a 50-70lbs gun into combat is a little silly. :-P And if it weighed that much... what's with the 50-70lbs sword?

also, I'm reasonably certain if you took off the sword part, this would just look silly as a gun.

If you took off the sword and reworked the handle and barrel shroud, then I'd say it would look like a variant of the old M1917 .30 cal machineguns they used in WWII.

Jesus christ people, it's not supposed to be realistic. Let's just enjoy the fact that it's a pretty cool weapon that just so happens to fuse a ridiculously large blade with an equally ridiculously large gun and is wielded by an attractive young women.

I don't hear people bitching that Cloud from FF wields a great sword with the same ease as someone that wields a normal long sword, let alone the fact that there are literally hundreds of thousands if not millions of examples of unrealistic weaponry being depicted in Sci-fi/Fantasy movies/stories/games.

TL;DR? Shut up and just enjoy the damn picture.
