His designs get better? I did notice some changes in art style, but nothing particularly improving. It's like getting to a point where you don't know how to improve drawing the actual characters, going off a wrong tangent instead.

Just opinion.

he actually did improve when you review his recent works compared to his old ones. i sort of get what you mean though, he's stuck to a certain "style" of designs with pretty much all his works. but he's refined it a lot, it's much cleaner and seems effortless in his compositions.
