As ridiculous as it may sound,

When Japanese people see anime characters, they see them as being Japanese.

When Caucasian people see anime characters, they see them as Caucasian.

Just throwing that out there...

She looks light white like, say, a German-American from Wisconsin. He looks regular white like, say, a Turkish-American from Florida. Both are still 'white people' of the same race.
