You all seem to be forgetting that Red has Mewtwo, which is arguably the most powerful pokemon in the world, rivaled only by Arceus, the god of pokemon. If that's not enough he appears as the strongest npc in pokemon history. So if you compare them in terms of playable characters, red wins and if you base your argument on npc strength or legendary possession, Red still wins. Sorry but the others just cant compete. The fact that you beat Red with gold is only due to gold being the main character in GSC.

Anon 1 in this page right. You know that N take advantage by reminding Adeku of his past grief which make him can't concentrate and lose. The possesion of legendary pokemon is nothing. a good trainer can defeat any legendary in game with good strategies. But, that can be different case if this is happen in the manga.
and, why the hell people keep drawing N in a picture of protagonists? he doesn't belong here

It's not that Red is overrated. In fact, he actually does have Mewtwo which can automatically own all the opposing trainer's pokemon at once, if not, then most of them. Also true it depends on the trainer behind the Pokemon, but seeing as Red already has a lot of game to back himself up more than the rest of the trainers there, his experience and wits combined with Mewtwo or any of his other Pokemon place him on a very daring status which has very little chance of being conquered. It's like Bruce Lee said, you're a "Student Master" while living since you're always learning and getting stronger, and you're only considered "The Master" when the casket closes. So obviously, Red will most likely be the best trainer out there until he dies, THEN anyone else will be able to consider theirself the new strongest LIVING. I'm not dick riding Red at all because I like Gold too and Yellow. I'm only stating facts and critical details.

Two protagonists plus two friendly rivals plus one enemy rival slash hero antagonist versus three protagonists plus two rivals, at least one an enemy rival.
On the other hand, legendaries don't figure into the prime stories (and therefore are not necessarily caught) for anyone on the right, whereas three of the five on the left will always have at least one legendary dragon before the end of their story. Either two Zekroms, two Reshirams, or pretend someone got Kyurem instead. (Red, as per his appearance in HG/SS, does not have Mewtwo. Though he is pretty damn formidable.)
On the OTHER other hand, Gary Fucking Oak. (No not really, but it was too good to pass up.)
Here's how I see it play out:
Cheren and Bel dual battle against Gold and Kotone. Cheren and Bel will win thanks to the strong teamwork they've built up over a decade of friendship. (It also helps that they can combine Pledge attacks.)
Touko/Touya/N will triple battle with Red/Blue(Green?)/Silver, and win. Blue will get taken out first by a Zekrom/Reshiram combination attack, Silver will be taken down by whoever has the third dragon, and Red will put up a good fight and be the last man standing on his team, but will eventually be overwhelmed by superior teamwork.
Generation V wins over I/II, but it's a close thing.
Far more important than who wins this, though, is that someone must draw the ensuing orgy.

If we're talking about Legendaries, in the regular game storyline of Gold and Silver you do either beat or capture Ho-oh and Lugia respectively (with the other being optional starting in their remakes). So then team Red would have Mewtwo, Lugia, and Ho-oh, and the other side would have Reshiram, Zekrom, and Kyurem. Each have three legendaries (although Mewtwo and Lugia are both synonymous with super-bamf in my opinion)
If we're talking about in the Special Manga, Gold and Silver both kinda control legendary dogs (Entei and Raiku) at one point, but i don't think this is set in that.
