nothing poeple just like him more out of nostalgia or they just cant accept that the newer generations are better. He is not even a badass just the virtual personification of the player. Also in the manga he and ash have are no different in terms of personality except that red is smarter, stronger and a better trainer and he has the rare ability to actually age.
