Actually, no. The AKS74U is shorter, not the standard AK74. The AK74 has a distinctive flash hider at the end of the barrel and a different magazine shape, so this couldn't be an AK47.
I'm guessing you learned about guns mostly from Call of Duty (most popular shows, movies, and games aren't nowadays, case in point CSI's magical image enhancers and Russia ignoring Makarov's face on camera to go to war with the US in MW2) so here are a few websites to check out if you feel like educating yourself. Feel free to skim them, as they're sort of wordy.

Another thing: The AK74U isn't a submachinegun, it's a carbine. Carbines use rifle rounds, submachineguns use pistol rounds.
