You people really feel that Lily would have been better off with a man that wanted to kill muggle borns (except for her since he had a crush on her), wanted to kill anyone who tried to protect muggles or muggle borns, came up with a potentially lethal curse to use against other kids in school after he started an ongoing rivalry and hexing war with them, wanted her to change her ideals so they wouldn't clash with his, thought an assault on one of their classmates was funny and her being upset over it was ridiculous, was angry with her for having friends other than himself, went out of his way to get an infant killed, and a rather long list of other unpleasantness?

No, he really wouldn't have been a better man for Lily, it took being responsible for her murder for him to try working with the good guys for revenge, but even that was not enough for him to actually try to be a decent person.
