Yeah, basically to condense what's going on there...
The IJN sent "Betty Bombers" (Mitsubishi Type G4M1 Shiki) to attack the British Battlecruisers "Prince of Wales" and "Repulse". The Ships were sunk quickly, and this was a major event to prove that air power was superior to naval ships. This reenforced the same lesson that the U.S. had learned only days earlier at Pearl Harbour.
The Japanese call this victory Marei-Oki Kaisen (Naval Battle of Marei-Oki) AKA The Battle off of Malaya.
Mecha Musume makes history much more fun and sexy, though. =^^= This genre is perfect for WWII nerds everywhere!
