The gifs I've seen of this series always seem to show tons of soldiers firing automatics at someone and somehow all missing. Seems like it would get old pretty fast to have the enemies bullets magically miss constantly.

I hate when anime does that with weapons.
1. That gun is over 30lbs without ammunition.
2. There's no such thing as a grenade launcher attachment for it unless they had a gunsmith do some heavy mods to it. That mod would probably raise the weight to over 50lbs with ammo.
3. The recoil on that gun makes it impossible to fire in one hand, much less outstretched like that.

I know they're just trying to make it cool, but it really just makes it cheesy and ridiculous.

either or Barret M82 or M107A1. either way, its a .50cal anti-material rifle firing .50 BMG 700gr rounds.

so yes, those ARE large caliber rifles. the largest round legally allow to be fired upon a human target as per the Geneva Convention. of course that doesn't mean you can't fire a 105mm round at the car the gunner happens to be standing behind.

There's only one problem wrong with your 2nd assessment, and that is this: most standard 82's and similar rifles come standard with rails on the bottom. In some cases, certain grenade launchers can be attached to these rails. That aside, some moderate adjustments can be made to the rifle's existing forearm to accept such a modification.

As for the weight issue, Roberta is practically a goddamn cyborg, so the seemingly impossible act of wielding it one-handed can be explained by that. And, if we're going to try and look at how much this modified Barrett would cost...well, the family she's a maid for has some serious bank, so cost is a non-issue.

Final point here...why try and apply conventional logic and rules to anime? Boobs that don't follow the rules of gravity, planets that take 20 episodes to blow up, magical shit galore....don't try and make sense of anime, just sit back and enjoy the things that can't possibly exist.

@Anon2 Clearly you've never seen Black Lagoon at all, if you see the episodes involving Roberta, she can definitely do all those things, (spoiler) I mean she was strong enough to punch a guys head off until there was nothing left (end spoiler). Also there are various ideas for weapon attachments that can become practical, I've even seen a live pistol bayonet for crying out loud:

and if you want impractical here:

Though M82 is an AMR, its recoil is less than that of a .308 rifle.

Roberta does get hit, the problem is that she's practically a T-800, and she's on drug. Thus she ignores the stopping-power of small arms...until she was taken back to Latin America.

Yeah she probably on painkiller drug. That combine with her crazy physical strength ( can breaks a wine bottle just by grasping it)

>can break a wine bottle just by grasping it

a moderately strong human can do that. Glass bottles aren't exactly known for being unbreakable.
