You're not seeing it right, one hand is holding the sword behind her and the other is simply being held up so that her arms are making an X.

Actually, it's correct if the sprite artist just made the sword disappear so it won't obscure her face.

Actually a lot of sword stances include the sword behind you, at least in my style; most are for battle starters, flashy or REALLY strong and complex "combos" so to say, i know only one normal swing with a behind stance
