thats an mg34 not an mg42 an mg42 is belt fed that mg34 has the bunt cake clip thats synonomus with it differentiating itself from the mg42 lol not every german machine gun is an mg42

No, there was a configuration of the MG42 that used the same drum magazine as the MG34. If you look at wikipedia there's a nice picture that shows it in this configuration. Judging by the barrel shroud, it may actually be a M53, a Yugoslavian MG42 clone, but it's kinda hard to tell.

On a side note, if it where on a sling it should be rotated 90 degrees clockwise. And none of the connection points are occupied, so I'm going with it's just floating there.

The barrel shroud on the MG 42 and M53 are the same... you probably saw the left hand side of the 42 and the right hand side of the 53 and assumed both sides where the same. They're not.
