Girl wears bikini armor = how is this protecting her?

Even if she's wearing a dress or whatever and is covered neck down, if she's not wearing armor she's still going into combat with vital organs vulnerable, just no skin is showing. Fan service or not, a bikini armor still offers SOME protection which a just normal clothes don't.

the term bikini armor can be interpreted in two ways, an armor shaped like a bikini or an armor that protects the bikini. what if bikini armor really means the latter like giving up on defense and focus more on mobility without the fear of being stripped off the clothes they have left, shit got out of hand and it's meaning becomes the former.

just a thought though.
