I assume he's just making them for fun. I agree though, they're definitely ones you'd expect to see in the upcoming 3DS/Wii U games, whether it be playable characters, assist trophies, adventure mode enemies, or just there for appeal (Pit in Melee, Mudkip in Brawl)
Most of them are of Pokemon that just debuted in the anime, hence Bisharp as the most recent.
