Not sure where the German Calligraphy came from but the 800mm shell belongs to the WWII Ultra-Heavy Railway Gun:

So I'm inclined to say that it's not quite related to Jules Verne.

It's implied, Anon2, since the writing mentions the moon, and such a contraption was used in the story he wrote. The artist likely used the Dora shell because it's the closest thing that was actually built.
