Digimon pretty consistently kill their opponents, who, depending on the season, then reincarnate as a digi-egg. Pokemon, on the other hand, are essentially trained for sport battles that end when the opponent is knocked out. The power comparison is a little difficult given the digimon's digital nature and natural environment: the reason they have the power of 'make shit up' as shinnypichu (get that man some shin guards) so eloquently puts it, is that they can manipulate the very fabric of their reality. Even outside their domain, in the real world, they are immensely powerful (as seen in Tamers/season 2).
The average digimon also has human level or greater intelligence, and the ability to communicate with humans. Pokemon, on the other hand, such things are exceptions rather than the rule. Most have an equivalent apparent intelligence to whatever animal they are based on, up to the level of a mentally handicapped human. The best example of an exception to these norms is MewTwo; however, he is literally a freak of nature created by humanity. He is depicted as not only immensely powerful, but to have an intellect that surpasses pretty much every human character that makes an appearance.
Basically, this is like comparing Street Fighter to Dragonball Z. The power differential between the two settings is immense.
