Is it just me or have all these new evas in rebuild been kind of a let down? I mean we wait for 2-3 years to see these new evas and-
-eva08 is nothing more than stationary support
-eva05 looks stupid and dies withing 5 minutes anyways
-eva04 never appears
-eva03 dies on its first test
-eva09 looks just like eva00 (so woop-dee-doo)
-eva13 looks just like eva01 (again, woop-dee-doo)
-eva06 gets built up as this huge plot device, and instead gets all of... 25 seconds of screen time
Wtf rebuild?

Anon2, I felt the same, except 03 and 04 had the same exact roles in the original, and I kinda liked 05 since it was out of the ordinary. But you have to remember that the characters are what's important in Evangelion, not the Evas (ironic considering they're in the title, but oh well). So don't get too mad because the giant humanoid doomsday machines didn't live up to your expectations. Ok, you can get a little mad at 13 though: seriously Rebuild? Your franchise is famous for deconstructing the super robot genre, yet when you make a robot which requires two pilots you don't deconstruct it?

Anon2, I felt the same, except 03 and 04 had the same exact roles in the original, and I kinda liked 05 since it was out of the ordinary. But you have to remember that the characters are what's important in Evangelion, not the Evas (ironic considering they're in the title, but oh well). -Rei started to blossom into a person by the end of 2.0 and is reset and thrown aside lik garbage in 3.0
-Mari actually pilots because she loves the evas and seemed to have a deeper role in 2.0 but by 3.0, all of that was discarded w/o explanation.
-Asuka, I'm glad you survived, seeing as yu were on th verge of a life changing social revelation in 2.0, but 14 years have passed and yu hate Shinji beyond belief and don't explain anything to him as to why?
-Kaji, you never appeared in 3.0... no answers, no nothing....
-Maya, Aoba, Hyuga, what happened to you all? I loved you guys and in 3.0 I got all of.... 5 seconds of you...
-Misato and Ritsuko, barely saw you, and you hardly explained anything to the boy who needed some explanations. Just ignored him.
-Gendo, ..fuck you.
-Fuyutsuki and Kaworu, thank you both for being the only 2 who explained anything to our confused Shinji(and thus to we the audience)

I think the biggest disappointment with the film was that rather than picking up where 2.0 left off and finally answering the questions surrounding the Mark.06, Seele, Kaji, and Mari, 3.0 threw all of those story elements aside and instead gave us a world in which "everything that we had been waiting 3 years to see has happened".
Absolutely none of the original teaser shots made it into the film. And everything that was said to be relvealed in 3.0 was not even mentioned throughout the entire film. Its as though we waited 3 and a half years for our main course, our "steak" if you will, and instead were handed a bag of barbeque chips. We should be angry about this, but we waited so long, so hungry for what we were promised, that when we were finally given "somethng" we took it as the greatest course of the meal. Even though it was just chips and not our cursed steak.
That's 3.0. Not what we were promised. Just chips.
