Pokemon has been needing this since HG/SS, B/W/2 were the last hurrahs of the sprite based games, sticking to the same shit doesn't work as a business model anymore.

No thank you, I've have had enough of the identical sprite styles of Gens 4 and 5. It's time to move to 3D and away from something that has been with us for over 6 years.

Damn! This makes me wish there were a sprite version of X and Y. Pixel art is beautiful and brings a really cool look, but Pokemon needed something new.
