I'm not the guy who posted, but I can answer that for you having read the original in my German class. The original story is called Rotkapchen and was one of the Brothers' Grim collection of fairy tales from across Germany. In the original the wolf, disguised as the grandmother, tricks little red into eating cooked flesh from her grandmother and drinking 'wine' which is actually her blood. She does both despite the fact that little birds sitting on the open windowsill warn her.
