Did you give her the Ruin tome? Because that thing (while the weakest dark tome in terms of base might, if you'd believe it) gives even a character with as low of a skill stat as Tharja the ability to get crits like there's no tomorrow! And yeah, I'm a nerd for knowing this. :)
