In Japan crosses and such just refer to cults altogether (it's the symbol of one cult -> it's occult and mysterious)

They don't really care about religions over there that much.

They don't care about religion? Than whats with all the shrines and temples, or the fact the Fujiyama is one of three holy mountains over there. Just because someone doesn't think a carpenter from 2000 years ago isn't god doesn't mean their not religious.
