So instead of arguing the point, you jump straight to name calling in hopes of the "big bad competitive fags" to leave. It's not even being competitive, it's just basic pokemon type-up knowledge and team building.
And it's not even "gameplay logic" because it just so happens that pokemon have weaknesses in the manga and anime too. Wowzers.

I agree, they also have weaknesses in the anime/manga. Rock is the most common super-effective attack(next to fighting) in the game and unless you're purposely running a mono-team or if you just want to lose then having a team like this is stupid...
I don't want to go all "competitive fag" people here but if you ever played online you'd know how bad this team is especially since everyone is using spamming stealth rocks+stone edge now.

So you want to hear my argument? Here you go.
Both of anons, you just lack of imagination don't you? Do you expect Weavile not to use its high speed and just gladly receive rock attacks throw at it? This is why I said don't use game or perhaps, anime logic outside of the context. The usage of such logic is retarded as hell and unimaginative.
For reference, anybody could search Carnival of Champion in some doujin sites, preferably exhen since I know it from there. In that doujin, there is certain Sandslash that have been specially trained so it can DEFLECT water attack. Outside of the rigid game and anime logic, it actually pretty much possible. Do you really fucking think that Venomoth and Beedrill would really harmed by Earthquake?
This is why Pokemon doesn't have any serious manga or anime. The audience is imagineless as fuck and doesn't even care to use every single shit of it.

Anon2: Maybe he could have "befriended" the player character or be close only to his pokemon. XD (Except not really? It would count if it was N. :?)
