It's true. Pokemon hasn't really done anything major to give a breath of fresh life to the series. Now, don't get me wrong. I love Pokemon. But it's kind of starting to get stale. They shouldn't completely change it, but they need to add some big new feature or something. Like, maybe have full 3D battles, like in Pokemon Stadium? Even as a kid, I think I played Pokemon Stadium more than the Gameboy games. It'd be more interesting than watching a bunch of sprites lunge and shoot lasers at each other.

Holy shit you can sit on a bench! Maybe sometime in the 31st century, we might actually have multiple regions!

An official MMORPG...
The unofficial one is neat and all, but it is just the original FR map... and you can't savescum before catching Snorlax... so if you fuck that up...

"This could mean that there are more interact able objects in the game."
I've always like those in games. Like when you can examine everything and receive a proper response from it. (e.g. "It's just a barrel" or "The flowers smell nice.")

Pokemon is a Shin Megami Tensei clone hit over the head with a mallet for kids. I've never understood what about it is awesome. Is it the bare bones combat, the complete lack of any dungeons or scenario design in the campaign or the fact that a drinking bird can finish the game?

You know, they actually do have a MegaTen series aimed at kids, called Devil Children. While toned down from normal games, they're still a bit deeper than Pokemon games.

FYI, Pokemon came out before Shin Megami Tensei. It's nowhere near being a clone, it's a game where you catch superpowered creatures and raise them. And Pokemon isn't completely for kids, as adults that are into Pokemon strategically battle in tournaments, plus there's certain subjects in a few games that fly over a kid's head at the time but when they go back to it when they're older they realize something like that shouldn't be in a kid's game.
