This is pretty much the only Naruto movie that isn't a complete waste of time imo, at least the AU idea is fun to watch even if it's there for a short time

To me it's not a waste. It's showing a more emotional side to the characters. Sakura was complaining about her parents, Naruto was feeling the pain of always being alone with out parents. They get sent to a world where she doesn't have them anymore and he does and they get a taste of it.
Even if the movie is a 'filler' or whatever, it's important in a sense to me, because it's dealing with Naruto's emotions and it proves to him, when he gets back to his original world with no parents, that he is not alone as he thinks.
Plus the whole 'What if?' thing going on. And it's fun to see the characters you know being totally crazy with their personality flips. I wish there was more to this somehow.

I mostly like it because it helps better develop Sakura as a character, despite the non-canon nature of the movies. Plus, she gets to get some CQC time with Menma, lending her some awesome points she really deserves.

This movie would have been better if it were purely an AU without characters from the canon universe interfering or getting involved with it. If we were just watching an AU with nothing but that universe's characters they could've done so much more; it had so much more potential. But no, they fell into the basic terrible plot trap of having two main characters from the canon universe somehow stumble into this alternate one. At that point, the plot just goes downhill until it near immediately hits bad fanfiction levels of quality.
