Actually, KingRocket, a female mantis will bite the head off of the male WHILE it is mating with her. Then she will continue to consume the headless body of the male that continues to copulate and she will eat the rest of the male until there is nothing left to so.

Kingrocket, and Anon 3, for the record, sexual cannibalism among mantids is kind of a myth. It happens, but it's not really common; usually only if the female is pretty hungry from the outset. When it does happen, it's just because the male happens to be a close, convenient snack; it doesn't really have anything to do with the sex itself except for putting the male in a position where he is easy prey.
