I don't wanna bore you, but the concept of Farfetch'd actually is being useless and its Japanese name "Kamonegi" references that.
It comes from an old saying about "finding a duck carrying onions", that means when something weird but convenient happens, which is in the games when you trade a common Spearrow for a rare Farfetch'd.
But the word Kamo also can mean somebody who is easy to take advantage of, in this case this is the player, as they trade a Spearrow that later can evolve into a Fearrow for an useless, rare but still useless Farfetch'd.
