If these are ACs from 1-4, then it looks way too small. Even ACs from 5 were large enough so that the pilot could almost fit in the head.

Actually, AC's from 5 are the smallest, being around 6-7 metres tall at the most. NEXT's from 4 are around 12 metres which you can see in game when standing near normals. 1-3 AC's are around 8-9 metres or so. AC's are very small mecha which is why many missions in the game are in urban areas or even tunnels.
