It's a general tag, too. Too many people have the impression elves are only found in mideval fantasy settings...why can't the exist in future settings too?

Because in the medieval settings they're almost always already past the point of no return in terms of racial decline? If you've fallen from empires to (often nomadic) groups rarely exceeding 20 people in a world with multiple competing dominant races who outnumber you on the whole 100+ to 1, the only thing likely to be left of you 1000 years later is maybe a chapter or two in the history books.

That said, I'm all for space elves anyway. Fuck my logic; I want hot, pointy-eared action in zero-g.
