It's actually something he does intentionally, after being brutally murdered by a total babe that would have been the girl of any man's dreams he develops a minor case of gynophobia. In essence he doesn't fully trust the female characters and he doesn't want to be hurt again emotionally by being betrayed again by someone he thought he could love. Can't blame him really.

Hardly. I'd say he's more trusting and subservient in nature (at least when it comes from girls) and Rias and Asia both become jealous when anyone makes a move on him, not to mention he's just a little bit afraid to make the jump into sex (probably because of their jealousy).
