In Blastoise's defense... it WAS Gen 1.
Fire Spin was OP as all heffle, THEN he gets hit by Fire Blast, the epitome of raw Gen 1 Fire damage. But he must have majorly crit to deal a KO with it.
Although. Charizard probably should have been KOed by the Hydro Pump it was hit by before.

Pokemon 1st gen games were ridiculous once one started figuring out the programming. I'd just use whatever Pokemon I wanted with Double Team or a similar move 6 times and I could start eating almost any Pokemon I wanted because they programmed the old games to give all your stats a boost every time you used a stat boosting move or even item, at least up to the 6 times for maxing out. By the time I did my 6th Double team my Persian was eating Bruno's Onix's alive with a few Slashes. The fighting Pokemon? Gone in one. I loved the 99% crit rate on evolved Pokemon like Venusaur's Razor Leaf and Persian's Slash too back in 1st gen. I miss nearly perfect crits. So Charizard beating Blastoise wouldn't have been that unlikely if he boosted 2 or more times with a move or item back in 1st Gen.
