when Kubo was making this character, he was trying way to hard to make it "creepy"
just looking creepy doesn't make it intimidating.

Yeah, the latest chapter kind of ruined his character to me. All because Kubo has the habit of forcing in character dialogue to pace things. You dont have to waste several pages to rationalize irrational fear to me.

He would have benefitted from less explanation and more weirdness. The ability to reason just made him appear more human.
