I'm pretty sure the decision to make her a heavyweight was due to her height, not actual weight. She's something crazy like seven feet tall, and she'd look weird in the smaller karts. It's the same reason Waluigi was changed to heavyweight after Double Dash.

It's probably also a balancing deal. So far very few of the newcomers seem classifiable as 'heavyweights' by any stretch, and making her sort of slow and not launch as far can be justified by making her movements feel more deliberate and graceful. So yeah, that makes sense to me; it's pretty imaginative, if anything.

She's the best female in the Mario universe to me.
Pretty much main her in Mario Kart. I'm glad they gave her more voice in 8 though. Big hearts for Rosalina!
