Happy birthday Shinji! :D

Rei is emotionless again, Asuka hates your guts now, Mari is still a stranger, and Kaworu died recently! :D

See you in 4.0 buddy! Happy birthday! :D

Dont make it sound THAT bad...
Rei wont judge him for anything, so she is his best shot at a completely fresh relationship (non-romantic, i´d guess)
Asuka is "merely" angry, frustrated and pretty conflicted about the way she feels about him. You dont go out of your way to drag someone along with you on a trek through the desert unless he means at least something to you.
Mari may be a stranger to him, but the reverse isnt all that true, pretty sure Asuka talked about him a lot over time (see : How was it to finally see him again?)
And Kaworu? ...ok, dead. Yeah. That kinda sucks. Granted.

I don't think feelings or compassion prompted Asuka to drag Shinji back. It was the risk of leaving him there where he could be captured by Nerv and used to trigger another impact, thus becoming a liability. Not to mention, as far as being the trigger twice for an impact, I'm sure Wille and staff would be upset if Asuka didn't bring him back for containment and study purposes.

Possibly, but just the fact that she obviously sprinted to his entry plug after N4I (she was breathing heavily when the hatch opened) and was irritated at his appearant sulking instead of simply lashing into him for causing N4I in the first place hints at some sorts of lingering care, i´d say.
Plus Asuka actually decided to show up uninvited at that little briefing on the Wunder just to get to see him face to face. Sure, she punched the wall...but this is Asuka. Violent behaviour is par for the course for her.

It might not have been out of feelings, but just common sense human decency. I mean, it's unlikely that she's some kind of cold hearted indifferent monster. She would probably do the same if it was a complete stranger, (and let's face it, after 14 years absence, Shinji practically was one).

Also about the 4th impact, who the hell cares? It was just a big explosion. Not like it makes any difference, the planet was destroyed already.

We don't know what happened to Rei yet. The movie left that vague and unclear as it did many things.

As for Kaworu, is he really even dead? He has a tendency to show up again after a gory demise, as EoE proved.

Mari is a promising character, despite what people say, but I still feel she's out of place and has no real role in the story, aside from being someone for fans to ship Asuka with. She belongs in a different anime, perhaps with herself as one of the protagonists.

Bringing him along instead of letting him starve even if he was a stranger? Yes, very probable.
Beelining it to his entry plug to make sure he´s alright even if he was a stranger? Nay, i say.

And N4I turned out to be "just" an explosion, but WILLE has been fighting for a decade to never, ever let another Impact happen at all. That wasnt just a big explosion, that was almost the end of the world and the worst case scenario some of them grew up dreading like the devil himself. Thats childhood trauma coming alive, right there.
...which probably wont help Shinjis case with most people on the Wunder. Meh, not like he´s a people person in the first place.
