It was indeed used in the show, but not in any really noticeable or appreciable shots. Just for a couple of seconds as they fly away in their beds, with only their tops showing. No bottoms.

The undershirt was seen just as the beds flew off from Devimon's mansion. And I might be mistaken, but the shirtless hand-covered art was seen in Etemon's Ship in the desert.
