Trevenant is part Ghost type, which is immune to Fighting attacks, and Flying Press is still part Fighting type, so ergo, Flying Press will do zero damage to Trevenant, while doing all the damage to Froakie.

But wouldn't Hawlucha just collide with Froakie and take it through Trevenant as well?

It seems like (since ghosts can do this aka anime logic) Trevenant made Froakie transparent with itself and Froakie fainted from shock.
