I thought FFXIII was an awful stinker, but 13-2 pulled it out of the garbage and polished it up, so to speak. The story of the XIII trilogy is actually one of the more heartfelt and thought provoking entries in the series, it's just that the gameplay of XIII was so horrible it turned a lot of people off to the trilogy.
