I love Lightening's character to an extent, but I don't think she was that memorable or her role to be that iconic to where she deserved a whole game to herself and then one revolved around Serah wanting to find her. She is like a female Cloud in some aspects, but she has an attitude problem that cannot be justified. Cloud goes through more shit than her and he is not a dick like her, he has his moments but its like she was constantly pmsing throughout FF13. She blames others for what happened to Serah, she became less of a bitch in 13-2 but then she went back to almost being like that in 13-3.

I don't like how often people compare Lightning to Cloud, Cloud is much more memorable and a lot better than Lightning. I like a woman who can be badass and fight but with not that much of an attitude xD Lightning decided to go all cold, stand offish, not wanting to be around anyone initially because of her parents death? Cloud had some legit reasons for how he acted and still he wasn't as bad or even mean as Lightning granted he did have his moments and he was stuck on Aerith for a long time. Just the constant comparisons some make don't go beyond occupation and maybe appearance.

Don't get me wrong I love FF 13 and the characters, personally I mentally pair Lightning up with Crisis Core Sephiroth because I think they would have made a badass couple. Lightning can just get annoying with her attitude.

I can't stand how much people compare Lightning to Cloud, but for a different reason than you say: It's the fact that they have next to nothing in common!

The only similarities I see: They both have weather-related names, they both have blue eyes, they both have a pauldron on their left arm, and they're both ex-soldiers.

...Yeah, forgive me, but I don't see how Lightning is in anyway a rip-off of Cloud, with such minor similarities. Cecil Harvey's an ex-soldier, and I don't see anyone calling Cloud a rip-off of him.

I used to despise the XIII saga, but I think I've finally reached the point of accepting that it is what it is. However, with that acceptance also comes the fact that if this is the road that Square Enix is going to continue going down with Final Fantasy, then I'm jumping off the Final Fantasy bandwagon.

It's fine though so long as they follow through with their plan of releasing yearly Bravely Default games and as long as they keep them turn based with an overworld!
